Located along Ketch Harbour Road on the Chebucto Peninsula, Bear Cove is a new community being planned by United Gulf in one of Halifax’s quieter coastal areas. The project reflects ongoing development activity across Nova Scotia—bringing new residential opportunities to locations defined by setting as much as access.
Bear Cove is being designed as a low-density community, with homes and lots positioned to take advantage of elevation, sightlines, and the natural shape of the land.
Location & Setting
Coastal Views, Set Above the Shoreline
The community sits along a rugged stretch of coastline, with a layout that follows the natural curve of the land. From many of the planned lots, views extend toward the Atlantic, with homes oriented to capture light, openness, and long sightlines.
While the setting feels removed, it remains within reach of Halifax, offering a balance between access and separation that is increasingly difficult to find.
Homes & Design
Modern Forms, Adapted to the Setting
Concept designs for Bear Cove reflect a contemporary approach, with clean lines, large windows, and materials suited to a coastal environment.

Community Approach
Planned Around the Land
The layout of Bear Cove is intentional. Rather than a conventional subdivision grid, the community follows a single, gently curving road, with homes arranged to maximize orientation and spacing.
Project Status
Advancing Through Planning
Bear Cove is currently in the planning phase, with site work and construction expected to begin as the project progresses.
United Gulf has completed early design work for the community, including preliminary home concepts and layout planning. Additional details on lot releases, home options, and timelines will be shared as the next phase begins.
Coastal Living
Opportunities to build within a coastal area of Halifax at this scale are limited. Bear Cove offers a more considered alternative to traditional suburban development—defined by space, orientation, and its relationship to the surrounding landscape.
